it was all yellow

when i was in middle school i used to wish and wish that my brothers were the sporty, social brothers that everyone else had. but now, by and large, i couldn't be happier with who jeff and matt are. jeff and i spend a lot of time together now that we're both home a lot of the time, and he's one of my favorite people.
he's really thoughtful and kind. he can read people better than anyone else i know. he doesn't care what other people think about him and he's just a good person.

bluebonnets are the state flower of texas and are eeeeverywhere when you're driving around right now.

(those aren't bluebonnets. it's just a pretty field by the boat dock).
according to wikipedia, after returning from washington, lady bird johnson talked the govt of texas into spreading bluebonnet and other wildflower seed all along the highways of texas.
this mom stopped to ask permission to take pictures of her kids in our flowers.
also according to wikipedia, it isn't illegal to pick them. that's just an urban legend.

somethin' about a southern girl

roadtrip to the lake with andy, ryan and kelly today. 83 degrees and breezy.
they hadn't been out there since the cabin was finished on the inside, which was years ago. we kind of stopped going to the lake in big packs after college.
andy took a yoga class in college and now he loves to show us this one move whenever possible:
the water isn't warm at all yet, but it got toasty laying on the dock. this is when kelly and ryan jumped in.

the bluebonnets are so pretty/everywhere you look. tomorrow i'll post a bunch of them. they deserve their own page.
obligatory bluebonnet picture
after swimming, we tried to hit cans with the bb gun. i think all of us hit one at least once. i hit the can but it didn't fall over.

afterwards, i went to andy's house and ate brisket his dad had smoked. yuuum. and i played quibbler, a word/card game, with his family and they kiiiiilled me. fun end to a summery day though.

just killin' time

first kauai girls slushie of the season:
i've always been very proud of the fact that i've never suffered from seasonal allergies, and today it all caught up with me. there is all kinds of pollen in the air and my eyes have felt dry and itchy all day long. finally i held my eyes open as mom dropped a few drops of contact solution in them and now it's much better.
faj bought me a jar of cool stuff. 3 little baby cookie cutters, frosting tips, a bunch of thimbles and some tea strainers. i've been on a big tea kick lately.
now all i need is a cake to decorate. never tried that before.
a lot of the teachers i knew in taiwan have left or are leaving soon. one more reminder of how you have to live in the now because nothing stays the same. i think i would go back just to visit with bobo and the kuo's though. i told them i'd go visit late this year if i get a job soon.
there's a lot of stuff on my "when i get a job" list though. highlights, taiwan, euro pillows/shams to replace the ones that went missing, silver shoes to replace the ones that are falling apart, apartment, unpack boxes, chicken coup, container garden. fingers crossed.

we don't have a song

jeff and i have a lot of fun together but i'd say the highlight of the year is april fools. this year, it started shortly after midnight. i was in bed on my laptop.
jeff: megan, there's a guy walking around outside
me: ...
jeff: [giant smile on his face] i think he has a gun.. APRIL FOOLS. i just did it to mom and now i can't stop laughing long enough to april fools you.
(the headband challenge. you can't wear it without getting a headache).

we told gram we dropped a container of eggs on the floor. then pretty much from 8 until now, almost 11, everything we've said has been followed by april fools. you only get one day. but there are rules. you can't april fools a true statement. i guess that's the only rule.

hope everyone had a fun day.
"come quick, there's a leprechaun in the oven... april foolsss."
