they were like northern stars

hello again! the last few days of camp were busy and then we've been at the lake for the last couple of days, so i haven't had any time to update. but i'm back! and now that camp is over i can tell you my big secret which is that guillermo has been my boyfriend for the last three weeks and we've been dating since the first week of camp.

a week or so after we had been working together, i saw that he was taking the golf cart down to the maintenance yard and i asked if i could go along for the ride. we had kind of been flirting all week but i wasn't sure if it would go anywhere. so we get down to the maintenance yard and he gets out of the golf cart and sits in his car while he gets stuff out of it. i stayed in the golf cart.. feeling kinda awkward. on the way back, i was sure i had been imagining all of the flirting i thought we had done the previous week. but finally as we got closer to camp, he asked what i was doing on saturday (which we both had off) and if i wanted to get a drink.

so that weekend we went on a date to spiderhouse, one of my favorite coffee shop/hangout spots in austin. that went well and we decided not to say anything to anyone at camp because lots of couples had formed and we didn't want to be part of the gossip.

so we worked it out so we had the same day off every week and went on secret dates every weekend, sent secret texts, avoided each other around camp. that went on for the wholeee two months until two days before camp ended and then we started telling people a little at a time. first i told the girls i lived with, who completely freaked out.

all summer, people had been wondering who guillermo was constantly texting so there was a rumor that he had a secret austin girlfriend. so when i told, it went something like..

megan: i found out who guillermo's secret austin girlfriend is!

girls: who?!

me: me!!

girls: AHHHHHHHH!!!!!

hayley: caitlin and i knew it! one weekend he went to austin.. and we knew you went to austin.. and we said 'i bet megan is the secret girlfriend!' and then we noticed how you two act around each other

..then caitlin walks in and hayley is jumping up and down and high fives her 3 times..

caitlin: WE KNEW IT!

hayley: we made a deal that if one of us found out it was true, we would high five three times.
it's been a fun week because of that. i'm horrible at keeping secrets, so i'm proud of myself for keeping it. and it feels a lot less sketchy not to be keeping something from so many people we're close to. and it's been fun to be able to hang out around each other in front of everyone.
