and our cheeks can brush

for a day that wasn't billed to be very eventful, it ended up being pretty packed. john, chris and i met for brunch at open city and then it just snowballed.
first we went to see avatar in 3D which was amaaazing, i have to say. i had never heard of it, but it was really interesting/full of liberal propaganda/awesome.

then the plan was to go to trader joes. but it was closed. so we ended up going to a thai restaurant in the area. red curry.. deeelicious. thank god for red/green curry tasting more or less the same in every city. john ordered basil friend rice and it came out in a heart shaped mold. heart rice.

then we were going to go to some bar they liked, so we walked 7 blocks from the metro and it was CLOSED. it's like 30 degrees outside with a vicious wind, so none of us were thrilled. we ducked into the nearest bar and it was warm and much better.

then we went to some other bar that john thought was a different place, and we ended up being guilted into $10 cocktails. i was kind of mad that we were spending that much money and we weren't at the speakeasy.. which is just down the street, just as expensive, but a million times cooler. even if it is not actually a speakeasy and it does have a name, the thrill of the unmarked black door has not worn off for me yet.

then we ended up at this place called stetson's which i guess is supposed to be texasy. they have shiner. 2 hours later, i'm finally home, in jammies, face washed, in bed at 2:43 am. tomorrow is going to be movies, tea and books.
