take only what you need

it's official. i'm in a lull. will keeps insisting that i'm depressed, but that isn't it. i just can't tell you about any of the interesting stuff and i haven't been doing anything else. this weekend though, we have a 3 day weekend, so i'm determined to get out and about. i want to take pictures, go to museums, find some yoga, and do things in DC. i've only got 2 and a half months left.

tomorrow night lesley is making me dinner. she's been home sick but now i think she's up and about. that will be fun. a good start to an eventful weekend.

random story..
when i was packing my stuff in taiwan i couldn't stop thinking about how if you put a stack of paper in a suit case, eventually it wouldn't close if you tried to add one more paper. even though it's sooo thin. but there has to be a cutoff at some point.

so yesterday i wanted to wear my new dress with a button down shirt underneath. the dress fit fine without it, i didn't think it would matter. but when i went to put the dress on over my shirt, all of the sudden the dress was too tight for me to breathe comfortably. just one little button down shirt made that big of a difference.

i told a girl at work that story yesterday and she looked at me like i had lost it. but i thought it was interesting.

  1. You are NOT depressed because you are not a person who finds depression to be an outlet. A lull is often just a change of gears and direction. You have to put your car in neutral first to turn and then head in the opposite direction. I'd suggest that you are simply analyzing and redirecting.

  2. Megan, I just read that story about the paper in the suitcase. You're definitely losing it...or you just have too much free time to think about stuff lol... If you need a good laugh watch the movie 'Year one' with Jack Black.

  3. I find the story of the suitcase/paper and thus the shirt/dress to be interesting and worthy of pondering as well. You're brain is in full working mode, that's all. Good for you!

  4. I think we've chatted with each other via IM for, oh, 11 years. After a decade, you can sort of pick of vibes with just text alone. TCP/IP bond, if you will.

I'm just sayin' your exuberance has dissipated. I think you should go into DC's Chinatown and report back.
